It’s been a tough three weeks for the bush fire effected wineries in Victoria’s King and Alpine Valleys. This week winemaker Jo Marsh of Porepunkah/Bright’s Billy Button wines took to social media to explain how fatigue has set in as safety advice keeps switching between ‘Emergency Watch Watch & Act’ to ‘Watch & Act’, with still no signs of the Mount Buffalo/Buffalo Valley fire retreating.

Logically the fires and smoke have kept the tourist away, eroding any possible summer wine sales, and to top it off smoke taint has all but destroyed this year’s vintage. So if you’re a wine lover, we urge you to think twice this season about visiting your local bottle shop, and instead order online some of the finest wines our country has to offer. And no, we’re not just saying that, we simply adore these high quality and very individually appealing wines.

Jo believes her key to success is wide the range of varietal wines offered. She explains that her concept is to make easy to drink, accessible wines – nothing too funky or challenging for the consumer’s palate. And with one of Victoria’s most exciting range of sparking reds, whites and prosecco on offer, there’s a great choice of celebratory wines to enjoy with friends – perhaps pop these when some much needed rain arrives.
