Essentials’ favourite High Country pub, the Harrietville Snowline Hotel, has recently boosted its appeal by hosting large group and corporate team-building events that leverage the pub’s unique contacts and knowledge of High Country adventure and lifestyle activities. Recent hosted weekend retreats, including one for Melbourne accounting firm Bluerock, have seen groups of up to 100 take to the nearby mountains and trails for challenges including skiing, cycling and rope activities; plus excursions to breweries and wineries and a little yoga to help refresh and unwind.

Groups hit the mountain in the Snowline Hotel’s adventure bus

The Snowline takes a community-focused approach so groups benefit from a great mix of additional local business services. Beyond the pub’s onsite motel rooms, a wide range of external accommodation can be booked and offsite catering and entertainment arranged. An American BBQ bonfire party is just one showcase event that recently proved extremely successful, drawing on the creative spirit of Harrietville and the wider Ovens Valley community.

In recent months the Snowline has opened an expansive purpose-built deck area that links the front of the pub to a new beer garden at the back. This was designed to serve as a dedicated catering and private functions area, ensuring the iconic and popular front bar and bistro areas are able to continue serving as the local community hub. ‘Over the 10 years we’ve owned it the hotel has hosted numerous weddings, two annual music festivals, the annual Drive 4 Life 4WD charity event plus many regular motorcycle groups,’ publican Bennett Mountjoy told Essentials. ‘With our focus on quality food, demand to host events has grown, but it’s been difficult to reserve the venue for private functions. We’re excited that we are now able to help event organisers plan unique itineraries that can make use of a range of on- and off-site locations.’
