Celebrating the launch of the new Aussie online retailer Epic Wines Online, Essentials spoke to founder Trevor Knaggs about which wine pack makes Epic Wines Online a good choice for premium red wine lovers.

‘At Epic Wines Online we only sell organic, biodynamic or sustainable wines. These wines are produced in ways that respect the planet and as they’re chemical free, are not harmful your body. We curate these premium wines into packs, mostly of 6 bottles each; I like to focus on offering leading wines from smaller family owned businesses that deserve continued support. What are some examples of the wineries you support?
‘This weeks James Halliday awarded Yangarra Estate (congratulations guys!) produce incredible wines that we’re mighty pleased to be offering – both their reds and whites. Also from McLaren Vale is Paxton whose wines are seamless and beautifully crafted. We also have some great selections from Ngeringa (Adelaide Hills) – these have a balance in palate and length of flavour that’s outstanding. Many of our new customers are loving the crisp Woodpark Wines (King Valley) Prosecco and the Cullen Wines (Margaret River) Dancing in the Sun white blend (Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Verdelho) – a wine that’s aromatic and that goes with just about any lighter styled meal.’

So what’s your recommended premium red wine lovers?
‘It would have to be our Ultimates Reds pack ($148), featuring the astonishingly well crafted 2017 Uncultured Pinot Noir and 2016 J.E Syrah – both produced by Ngeringa (Adelaide Hills). Also included are two 2018 vintage wines from Paxton (McLaren Vale) – the Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. These are both great savoury-styled food wines, designed to pair with a Sunday roast or quality steak. Finally a fantastic pair of wines from this week’s James Halliday winners Yangarra Estate. We’ve included their 2016 GSM (Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre) – a wine packed with luscious fruit flavours and that has a fantastic mouth feel; and my absolute every day personal favourite – the 2018 Preservative Free Shiraz. It’s simply a cracker. I’m sure this wine pack would make your father smile.’
