Contemporary quality is the best way to describe this 5 star urban oasis, situated just a stone’s throw from the World Heritage listed Parramatta Park with its 85 hectares of grasslands, mature trees, gardens and river frontage. And though nearby prestigious Church Street offers a wealth of shopping experiences and cultural exchange of food offerings – an enticing mix of Egyptian, Italian, Greek and Middle Eastern cuisines, (inclusive of dozens of Halal options); no doubt many arriving to Skye will be visiting primarily for business purposes. And for good reason.
Skye Hotel Suites Parramatta features superbly appointed modern apartment-style suites, coupled with class-leading event and conference facilities designed to accomodate an expandable capacity with personalised service. Complementing this, enjoy the expansive lounge that looks onto a centrally positioned courtyard with its huge lap pool, that’s impressively resort-like thanks to the white rattan cocoon-style day beds, lush greenery and slatted timber curves creating separated poolside rest areas. More options for freshening up or winding down include a spa, sauna and fitness complex with well-maintained, modern equipment.
Featuring 72 luxury apartments, the quality of SKYE is a rare find within Western Sydney. While Essentials has previously reviewed a large collection of luxe hotels around the globe, it’s often difficult to find one that gets all of the finer details just right. Upon entry, we’re greeted by staff in the basement carpark, waiting ready to carry our bags. Fast and friendly check-in comes with local knowledge regarding dining advice and breakfast offerings – including directions to the adjoining The Shed Cafe – conveniently located at the rear of the lobby. It offers a great range of gourmet all day breakfasts, plus wonderfully exotic, freshly squeezed juice blends. No doubt management have good palates as well as a generous spirit – a handwritten card sitting on our room’s charcoal-finish two-seater dining table presents us with the welcome gift of an Architects of Wine 2017 Adelaide Hills Nebbiolo. The wine is truly appreciated.
Our suite at 504 features a kitchen/lounge/dining space inviting in its mix of softly warm and neutral tones that lend an aura of quiet sophistication: easy-on-the-eye ash kitchen cabinets; a linen-stitched modernist lounge suite; museum-style art (signed prints and original painted works on paper), plus a range of lighting choices that transform the mood and feel from brightly lit office professionalism, to after five, wine time relaxation.
For an extended stay, the apartment has all the amenities and tech savvy smarts one might expect, plus more. The kitchen features Smeg appliances (induction cook top and microwave), a Fisher and Paykel DishDrawer; and a full size refrigerator that includes a mini bar – award-winning Capi soft drinks; wines and chocolates – are offered free to those who’ve booked directly online. We appreciate the Breville Nespresso machine and selection of pods: simply, it works; unlike other no-name brand pod machines we’ve tested in so many properties. The choice in teas includes a boxed collection of luxury Dilmah Silver Jubilee: flavoursome and invigorating. Just about every other kitchen item: quality crockery, cutlery and fine stemware is provided, with a European-style laundry fitted into the kitchen cabinet’s sleek alignment.
A guest compendium is a digital offering, displayed on the bedside iPad mini tablet – its navigation layout is beautifully designed and easy to follow. Nearby restaurant food menus are delineated, booking systems arrange in-room massage or flight bookings with relevant information; also, an innovative custom check-out request form assists with both early or late check-outs.
King size beds have programmable comfort, each bedroom featuring a closet with enough hanging space to store a large collection of jackets and suits. Rooms are perfectly isolated with soundproofing that ensures a restful night’s sleep.
A smart choice for business travellers requiring an elegant one-stop spot while visiting Sydney’s ever expanding Western district corporate hubs; and a clever alternative for families wanting to explore Sydney’s most colourful and culturally rich urban playground – SKYE Hotel Suites Parramatta delivers understated luxury with a pleasing sense of ease.
