The Buds have burst in the high altitude wine region of Orange, NSW and to celebrate the region’s winemakers and foodies have launched the 2019 Orange Wine Festival program; and it looks to be packed with adventure.
Running from Friday, October 18 through to Sunday, October 27, events include behind-the-scenes access to wineries, meet-the-maker opportunities, a range of quality culinary experiences paired with the region’s award-winning wines and wine education sessions across a 10-day a period.
Celebrating its fourteenth anniversary this year the festival will feature the best in in spring produce grown within Orange and its surrounding villages, plus the not to be missed new release cool-climate wines from some of our very favourite wineries including: Rowlee Wines’ alternative varietal gems, De Salis’ ultra premium super high altitude sparking wines and Philip Shaw Wines’ award-winning aromatic beauties.
Highlights of this year’s festival include the 2019 Orange Wine Show Tasting and Masterclass on October 18; The Vino Express now offered across two weekends; and the ever-popular Night Markets on Friday, October 25.
The Vino Express
The Vino Express offer exclusive access to premium wine and food experiences during the event. These luxury 3-day curated ‘slow travel’ tour packages are aimed at immersing visitors in the Orange Wine Festival and providing an introduction to our amazing cool-climate wine region and local vignerons. Hosted by Silver Compass Tours in partnership with Orange Region Vignerons Association.
Orange Wine Show Tasting and Masterclass
Taste and self-judge all the wines from the Orange Wine Show, including the official trophy and medal winning wines. In between tasting, graze from generous platters of delicious local produce. The Masterclass is hosted by local winemakers and introduces visitors to the colour, aroma, taste and regional characteristics of Orange wines.
Orange Wine Festival Night Market
Spend the twilight hours of spring wandering leafy Robertson Park, perusing more than 50 food and wine stalls on 19 October. Meet local winemakers and chefs, dine at communal tables and enjoy live music under the stars, all for just a gold coin donation for entry.
